Terms of Service

Last updated: April 25, 2026

Thanks for using OverLooker! It's a free companion app for Overwatch 2 built and maintained by a single developer. Because we don't know every one of our users personally, we have to put in place some Terms of Service to set expectations and protect both sides.

When we say "OverLooker", "we", "our", or "us" in this document, we are referring to the OverLooker desktop application, the OverwatchStatsMCP backend service, the website at overlooker.app, and any related software or services published under the same name.

When we say "Services", we mean all of the above together — the desktop app, the backend, and any associated web pages.

When we say "you" or "your", we are referring to the person running OverLooker on their machine and using the backend service through it.

We may update these Terms of Service ("Terms") in the future. Whenever we make a significant change, we will refresh the date at the top of this page and notify you in-app on next launch via the changelog modal.

When you use the Services, now or in the future, you are agreeing to the latest Terms. These Terms contain a limitation of our liability.

If you violate any of the Terms, we may suspend or terminate your access to the backend service.

Account Terms

  1. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the Google account you use to authenticate with the OverLooker backend. We cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage from your failure to comply with this security obligation.
  2. You may not use the Services for any purpose that is unlawful, abusive, or violates the rights of others (see Acceptable Use below).
  3. You are responsible for all content submitted to the backend through your account, including match data, screenshots, and recordings.
  4. You must be a human. Accounts registered by automated methods are not permitted.
  5. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Services. If you are between 13 and 16, you may use the Services only with verifiable consent from a parent or guardian.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  1. Use the Services to harass, dox, defame, or threaten other players.
  2. Submit fabricated or deliberately falsified match data to the backend.
  3. Attempt to access the accounts or data of other OverLooker users.
  4. Reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the OverLooker backend in ways that disrupt the service for others.
  5. Use the Services in any way that violates Activision Blizzard's Terms of Service or the Overwatch 2 EULA. OverLooker reads game state through Overwolf's Game Events Provider and post-match screen recognition; you are responsible for ensuring your use of the app remains compatible with the game's terms.

Cancellation and Account Deletion

  1. You can stop using OverLooker at any time by uninstalling the desktop app. This stops any further data being submitted to the backend.
  2. To delete data already stored in the backend (your match history, screenshots, recordings), email privacy@overlooker.app from the address tied to your Google account. We will permanently delete your data from active systems within 30 days and from backups within 60 days.
  3. We may suspend or terminate your access to the backend service for any reason at any time, particularly in cases of abuse or violation of these Terms.

Modifications to the Services

OverLooker is provided free of charge and is actively developed. We reserve the right at any time to modify, add, remove, or discontinue any part of the Services with or without notice. We will do our best to communicate significant changes through the in-app changelog.

Uptime, Security, and Privacy

  1. Your use of the Services is at your sole risk. We provide the Services on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not offer service-level agreements or uptime guarantees.
  2. We take reasonable measures to protect your data through encrypted transport (HTTPS), authenticated access (Google OAuth), and standard hosting-provider security. We are not, however, a security-certified service and you should not store anything in OverLooker that you would consider highly sensitive.
  3. When you use the Services, you entrust us with your data. You agree that we may process your data as described in our Privacy Policy and for no other purpose. As humans, we may access your data for the following reasons:
    • To help you with support requests you make. We will ask for your consent before accessing your account data.
    • On the rare occasions when an automated process fails partway through. We get error reports via Sentry and may need to look at minimal data to fix the underlying issue.
    • To safeguard the Services. We may look at logs and metadata to investigate abuse or security incidents.
    • To the extent required by applicable law. We will only preserve or share user data if compelled by a legally binding order from a competent authority.
  4. We use third-party providers to deliver the Services. A current list of subprocessors is maintained in our Privacy Policy.
  5. If the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") applies to your use of the Services, you may exercise your data subject rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection) at any time by emailing privacy@overlooker.app. We will respond within 30 days.

Third-Party Player Data

OverLooker captures match data that necessarily includes information about other players present in your matches — primarily their battletags, hero selections, and visible scoreboard statistics. This data is submitted to the OverLooker backend as part of your match record.

We process this data on the basis of legitimate interest under GDPR Article 6(1)(f), specifically: enabling players to review and analyze their own competitive matches, which is a recognized purpose closely connected to the use of a game companion app.

Any individual whose battletag appears in OverLooker's records may request information about, or removal of, their data by emailing privacy@overlooker.app. We will verify the requester's control of the battletag (typically through an in-game profile screenshot or similar proof) and complete the removal within 30 days.

We do not publicly expose other players' data, sell it to third parties, or use it for any purpose beyond serving it back to the user who recorded the match in question.

Copyright and Content Ownership

  1. You retain ownership of all content you submit to the Services, including screenshots and recordings of your gameplay. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display this content back to you for the purpose of providing the Services.
  2. We claim no ownership over your match data, screenshots, or recordings.
  3. We do not pre-screen content but reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or applicable law.
  4. The OverLooker name, logo, and the source code of any non-open-source components are owned by their respective authors. The desktop application's source code is published under the license stated in its repository.

Game Publisher Disclaimer

OverLooker is an independent third-party tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise associated with Activision Blizzard, Inc., Blizzard Entertainment, Inc., or the Overwatch franchise. "Overwatch" and all related marks are trademarks of their respective owners.

OverLooker reads game state through Overwolf's Game Events Provider and post-match optical recognition. It does not modify game files, inject code into the game process, or provide any in-game advantage.

Liability

You expressly understand and agree that OverLooker shall not be liable, in law or in equity, to you or to any third party for any direct, indirect, incidental, lost profits, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary damages, including, but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses (even if OverLooker has been advised of the possibility of such damages), resulting from: (i) the use or the inability to use the Services; (ii) unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data; (iii) statements or conduct of any third party on the Services; (iv) any sanction, suspension, or termination of your Overwatch 2 account by Activision Blizzard related to your use of OverLooker; or (v) any other matter relating to these Terms or the Services, whether as a breach of contract, tort (including negligence whether active or passive), or any other theory of liability.

In other words: choosing to use the Services means you are making a bet on us. If the bet does not work out, that's on you, not us. We do our best to be a safe bet through careful development, security practices, and transparency.

Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be available at overlooker.app/terms and in the app's repository. By continuing to use the Services after revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
